Executive Director – Friends of Ofanim

Friends of Ofanim LogoMersky, Jaffe & Associates, a national executive search and consulting firm, has been engaged to conduct a search for the Executive Director of Friends of Ofanim.

Friends of Ofanim is a not-for-profit organization that raises money and support for Israel based Ofanim.  Currently, FOO raises approximately 1.2 MM each year and looks to increase the annual revenue to $4MM in addition to building a significant endowment.

Ofanim is a social change organization founded in 2004 by high-tech entrepreneurs in Israel.

The founders developed a unique and effective model to reach children in remote areas by using standard buses and converting them to Mobile and Technology Labs.

Ofanim delivers educational support in the periphery of Israel. Unlike the schools in Israel’s city centers, those in Israel’s periphery do not have the same resources available to them. With only a finite number of colleges and universities in Israel and limited seats available, children living in the periphery are far behind those in the big cities, because they have less access to the same opportunities, educational support and technological resources.

During the 2017-2018 school year, Ofanim helped 1,800 children every week – consisting of 115 groups in 63 towns and villages in Israel’s northern and southern periphery.  This year, Ofanim is working with 9 mobile labs – 5 buses and 4 light labs.  Many of the programs are STEM based and include 3-D printing, science, robotics, bio-med, computerized animation, gaming, application development, debate and learning skills.  In 2019, Ofanim anticipates entering into a joint venture with the Israeli Government which will significantly increase the number of participants in the program.

Since its inception, FOO has been largely supported by a small group of corporate and civic philanthropists who are passionate about bringing education to the periphery of Israel.

As a result of its success, FOO has grown to a size that requires it to bring on an Executive Director and is seeking a visionary, highly motivated and qualified individual to take the helm of this “Friends of” organization and bring it to the next level.

  • Provide overall executive and fundraising leadership for FOO.
  • Plan and implement vision, strategy, goals and priorities to drive all programs to ensure that FOO meets its annual and endowment fundraising goals for Ofanim in Israel.

Reporting to the co-presidents of the Board, the successful candidate will be entrepreneurial and an experienced leader in the not-for-profit Jewish philanthropic world or has been a successful leader in the private sector.
